The “Casa” is located at the Historic Alley House of Lincoln Square, at 2212 W. Sunnyside Ave, 1st floor – in the heart of Lincoln Square. This house was built in 1893 and was completely renovated in 2008. We are only 0.4 miles away from the Western Brown Line Stop - less than three blocks away. Free parking is available behind the library, on Leavitt Street, less than a block away. (click here for map)

Casa de Cultura Brasileira first opened its doors in January of 2007 and is proud to announce that by the end of that same month we had eight groups, ranging from a beginner course to advanced conversation classes. Our mission goes beyond that of a language school, as we are constantly in touch with Brazilians working with different aspects of Brazilian culture and scheduling a number of presentations, workshops, lectures, and shows on music, dance, culinary, religion and much more. Casa is an open a space for everyone interested in Brazilian culture. We are working with Brazilian publishing houses in order to improve our library so we have more books and DVDs to lend.

Please join our mailing list so that we can keep you updated on all the activities going on at Casa de Cultura Brasileira.

Located just three miles north of Downtown Chicago, Lincoln Square is a “It is a tapestry of interwoven cultures and one-of-a-kind businesses coming together to make an unforgettable place to shop, eat, visit, live, or work”; it truly is a neighborhood without borders. The surrounding restaurants and stores characterize the various cultures that enrich this community in the heart of the city. Within this melting pot, Brazilian culture is the most recent addition, thanks to Brazil in Chicago. Across the street from our school is the Old Town School of Folk Music, where among many other classes, Brazilian Dance and Capoeira are also offered.
